This week definitely has gone by fast. Maybe because I was
hoping I'd get to make some more phone calls. ;D To start it
off last Monday we went to our temple site and played
indoor soccer in the stake center. OH yeah volleyball too
which wasn't that fun because all of a sudden people started
throwing out their own rules which isn't ever very fun.
Especially because you can't keep them straight. It was
cool though for a net we used a piece of rope over the poles.
On Tuesday my mission president came to my area to do an
abortion interview. Luckily it was all taken care of even
though he spent about three hours in traffic for a five minute
interview. Yeah good thing that is kind of what he does though.
On Wednesday it was really cool because we received a referral
from my last area. Even better about it was that it was a guy I
contacted but whenever we'd go back to the place we meet him
he wasn't there. He runs a petrol station and yeah he lives in
my area now. It was nice to see how much desire he had. His
name is Patrick. His wife doesn't speak English but understands
it. So she'll listen to us teach and then ask him questions in
ewrva<---- probably misspelled grossly and then he'll ask us
in English. They have three kids. A boy, Michael who is 10, Ruby
who is 6 and then Bismark who is 4. The wife was unable to come
to church because of some prior engagement but it was cute to
see Patrick walk in with his kids all holding hands behind him.
Reminded me of ducks and ducklings. Thursday even had its own
excitement. We were basically tracting among some houses and
an older man called us over. He did so because he is a Reverend
and just wanted to bible bash with us. My companion was up for
it so we basically made him question his believe in the Trinity
because we used the bible and stuff. Yeah he didn't know that
the "mormons" believed in the bible. It was intense at times
though. Right by his house two ladies told me that they wanted
to go home with me. I guess it is the tan but I must of gotten a lot
better looking since I left America. That or I'm white in an
underprivliged country, I'm just hoping for option A. : )
Friday I got a FM (free meal) at my Bishop's house. It was rice and
stew. Big surprise there, but I did get an egg and a piece of fish. So
the ladie that we baptized on Thursday has a six year old daughter
named Franklin who can't wait to be baptized. Too bad she is only
six. She loves Primary though and really enjoys it. Yesterday at
church we had lights out, which meant no fans during church. I
felt like passing out because it was so hot. We went to the Ansah
family after church to celebrate their baptism and confirmation
from Thursday and Sunday. I had a Ghanaian four course meal
and I about died. They started us out with sausage swish kebabs
with onion and bell pepper. Those were good especially since I
didn't have much of an appetite because of the heat(lights were
still out) After that they brought out Jollof rice, baked beans,
and a potato salad that tasted like candy<--- sad part is that it
was too sweet for me to eat and enjoy. After that they brought
out a big ball, about 2lbs, of fufu in palm nut soup with chicken.
I was already filled up but when they give it you eat it. So I
downed that and then they brought out pancakes and a
multi fruit juice drink. I ate my helping of pancakes, drank my
juice and then realized Elder Richards couldn't even finish his
fufu so I told him to pass it over so we wouldn't look rude. I ate
about a third of his and then his pancakes too. Yeah lets just
say I haven't eaten anything since then and it has been about
20 hrs or so. That is my week so far. Today we are going to a
place called Kaneshie to play sports. They have an american
football so it should be interesting to watch Ghanaians do
that. Usually they don't have very good hands.
I hope that you are having an awesome week. I love you guys
and wish you the best.

Travis update
Another week in Ghana. This week went by pretty good. It
rained which I really liked. When it rains so far it has only
been at night but the clouds stick around for a good part of
the day which is nice. Plus when it rains it washes some of
the dirty rubbish smell away. I don't know why but lately I
have been spending a lot of time on our roof. I found out that
it is completely flat and really easy to get up there so yeah put
two and two together. Plus the mango tree is pretty close to it
so I do some scouting waiting for the clumps of them to start
ripening.
We had zone interviews on Thursday which went really well. I
gave a talk about how I am increasing my faith. Luckily there was
another elder who was speaking on the same thing and his talk
wasn't very good at all, seemed like he tried to throw it together
why he was saying it so mine shined in comparison which made
me pretty happy. I spent a lot of time at our apartment this week
though. Friday mid afternoon my companion told me we had to
hurry back to the apartment. He uh got runny tummy pretty bad
and stayed there for the rest of the day and then during the night
it progressed to him having malaria so all of Saturday I sat around
our apartment. It was SOOOO boring. Luckily he seems to be doing
a lot better so we should be fine. On Sunday we got to watch
conference but unfortunately I wasn't able to watch very much of it.
We were doing interviews for baptism and I was the one who was
going and getting people. I also helped to teach this nine year old
about the restoration with an Elder Richards(english guy). It was
pretty challenging to have him understand but we took care of it.
I did catch part of Elder Anderson's saturday afternoon about
the six D's. I thought it was good with how it all starts with a little
doubt. Then Jeffrey R. Holland gave a powerful talk and President
Monson's closing remarks in the sunday afternoon were probably
some of my favorites that I got bits and pieces of. That has been
about it so far. Hope everyone else's week went good.
